Self Advocacy – The Richland County Chapter of People First is a self advocacy organization working for the rights of people with disabilities to have choice and control over their own lives, take responsibility for their actions, and become more independent.

The People First officers schedule training to teach people how to make decisions about their life and accept responsibility for their decisions. People also learn how to ask for help when they need it to make good decisions about their life. Through this organization individuals with disabilities learn how to speak out for what they believe and build self confidence. Trainings have included topics like how to vote, how to be safe in the community, and how to be a strong leader. Some of these trainings are held out of county and self advocates have traveled to Columbus for state-wide training.
